ABOUT FORMULA
Vata-Balancing Support for Digestion & Elimination

This salty, pungent Ayurvedic formula is traditionally used to relieve chronic bloating, gas, and constipation. It stimulates agni (digestive fire), promotes bowel movements, and supports nutrient absorption. Especially beneficial for Vata types and those with dry, cold, or sluggish digestion, it also helps break down foods that commonly cause gas such as raw vegetables, beans, and grains.

Traditional Benefits:

  • Relieves bloating, flatulence, and gas
  • Supports regular, comfortable bowel movements
  • Enhances digestive enzyme activity
  • Calms intestinal spasms and Vata in the colon
  • Stimulates liver and pancreatic function
  • Helps break down difficult-to-digest foods

This formula is best used in cases of Vata-related constipation, dry stools, and irregular digestion due to stress or diet.

ABOUT HERBS
Key Herbs & Their Traditional Uses in Ayurveda:

  • Ginger (Zingiber officinale): Stimulates digestive fire, reduces bloating and intestinal cramping, and promotes circulation in the GI tract.
  • Shatapushpa Churna (Fennel): Mild, sweet carminative herb that reduces bloating, aids digestion, and supports gentle detoxification.
  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): Classical colon cleanser and rejuvenative herb that strengthens elimination and tones the colon.
  • Senna (Cassia angustifolia): Natural herbal laxative that promotes peristalsis to relieve hard or dry stools (use cautiously).
  • Black Salt (Kala Namak): Stimulates digestion without increasing Pitta; helps reduce gas and supports natural detox.

Together, these herbs stimulate agni, balance Vata in the digestive system, and support long-term elimination and digestive comfort.

HOW TO TAKE
Usage Instructions:

This formula is ideal for individuals with Vata-type constipation, bloating, and gas due to poor digestion and dryness in the colon.

  • Dosage: ½ to 1 teaspoon in ½ cup warm water after meals
  • Optional: Mix with warm cumin tea or ginger tea for added benefit
  • Frequency: After each meal for gas; once or twice daily for constipation
  • Capsules: If using capsules, take 2+ after meals with hot water (powder is stronger)

Pair with or one or more of the following:

  • Colon Formula – Vata – #18: For nighttime support and deeper colon cleansing
  • Colon Formula – Long Term – #32: For mild, daily maintenance of regularity
  • Post Digestive Formula – Vata – #53: For general bloating or weak digestion
  • Calm Belly Tea – #407: For acid and gas with inflammation or loose bowels

TIPS & NOTES
Dietary guidelines:
Follow a Vata-pacifying diet: Eat warm, moist, cooked foods with healthy oils (ghee, sesame). Avoid raw salads, dry crackers, and cold drinks. Sip ginger or cumin tea during meals. Do not skip meals, and keep mealtimes regular.

  • Do not take this formula if you are not constipated
  • Not recommended for individuals with high blood pressure or salt sensitivity
  • Avoid use during pregnancy due to Senna content
  • For stubborn or long-term cases, use alongside other Vata-balancing formulas and teas

Note: These Ayurvedic formulas are more powerful than teas, tinctures, or single herbs. Many formulas are actually combinations of formulas within formulas—often containing 20 to 50 herbs. Always read carefully and use with awareness of your dosha and condition.

For major or complex digestive concerns, schedule a Zoom consultation with Khabir to receive a custom protocol with herbal and dietary recommendations.
